Coalport China Museum

The Coalport China Museum is based in the village of Coalport within the Ironbridge Gorge on the northern bank of the River Severn. You can see live demonstrations of ceramic making and decorating and see many examples of Coalport China over their long history including the china made for Queen Victoria.

Shrewsbury Museum & Art Gallery

Re-opened in the old Music Hall in 2014, the museum tells the story of Shropshire through the ages, covering the Roman era and the Medieval, Tudor and Stuart periods. There are extraordinary objects like the roman headstones or the Shropshire Mammoth to the fine furniture and decorative arts of the Tudor collection.

Shrewsbury Prison

Don’t miss the fascinating 2-hour guided tour of this decommissioned prison, the tours are led by an ex-prison officer and walk in the footsteps of the thousands of prisoners who were imprisoned here over its 200 year history. There are also different themed tours including Ghost tours, a special Lights Out tour and tunnel tours.

RAF Cosford

There is a huge array of aircraft and displays at Cosford, including the National Cold War exhibition featuring the Vulcan, Victor and Valiant. There is also a fascinating history of the RAF in the ‘First 100 Years 1918-2018’ exhibition. For children there is the “Fun ‘n’ Interactive Gallery” with plenty of hands on fun. The exhibits don’t just include aircraft either with a selection of Tanks, Personnel carriers, fire tenders and missiles over 4 enormous hangers.
