The Quarry and the Dingles
The Quarry is a 29 acre area of parkland encircled by the majestic loop of the river Severn that encircles Shrewsbury Old Town. A centrepiece to the park is The Dingle, a former stone quarry, but now a landscaped sunken garden with alpine borders, brilliant bedding plants, shrubbery and charming water features. This is a perfect spot for walks, picnics, fishing and relaxation and just a few steps from the wonderful narrow streets of the Old Town itself.

Dave Austin's Roses
David Charles Henshaw Austin OBE was a British rose breeder and writer who lived in Shropshire, England. His emphasis was on breeding roses with the character and fragrance of old garden roses but with the repeat-flowering ability and wide colour range of modern roses such as hybrid teas and floribundas. You can admire his life's work in this large rose garden which many consider the finest example in the world.
